NBC’s streaming platform Peacock got a big boost in viewership this weekend thanks to viewers tuning in to its coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. While the network didn’t disclose exact numbers, July 24th was the streaming service’s most-consumed Saturday ever since its launch last summer.

NBC’s total viewership Saturday across all platforms including linear broadcast, cable, mobile devices, and connected TVs reached an 8.2 household rating across NBC, USA Network, NBCSN and CNBC, according to Nielsen. That’s up 26% from the numbers reached by the Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 25.

According to NBC, Saturday’s Tokyo Primetime coverage totaled approximately 15.3 million viewers. However, the Tokyo Olympics viewership is still down from that of Rio 2016. Contributing factors could include anything from the pandemic-postponed games to more viewers opting for social media recaps.
