This week at the OTT & Video Distribution Summit, Philo’s Mike Keyserling revealed that Philo is seeing its growth accelerate, noting that Philo is coming off the best month in the history of the company.
“There’s been a lot documented recently about how the MVPDs are taking a pause or even reducing their size. We’re just not seeing that dynamic at all,” Keyserling said at the OTT & Video Distribution Summit hosted by MCN. “We grew by 30% in the last eight weeks, and we’re really at the most accelerated growth in our company’s history.”
Many people have wondered if live TV streaming services like Philo are slowing down since AT&T TV NOW has lost subscribers this year and Sling TV has seen growth slow down. But Philo says they are setting records.
Hulu has also recently reported strong growth and has more than 2 million live TV subscribers. Other services like YouTube TV have not officially reported their numbers but say they are seeing strong growth.
Philo did not disclose exact subscriber numbers but the strong growth is a good sign for the discount live TV service that offers 58 live channels including AMC, BBC America, The Hallmark Channel, and Discovery for $20 a month.
