Sony’s PlayStation Vue service has continued to slowly add local channels. Back in July, PlayStation Vue added nine CBS affiliates and now is adding five more.
PlayStation Vue has added CBS to the following markets:
- Atlanta
- Hartford & New Haven
- Kansas City
- Phoenix (Prescott)
- St. Louis
That brings the total number of markets that PlayStation Vue has local channels in to 39. Most of the markets that are getting the new CBS affiliates should still stay at their current prices but some are getting close to the $10 price jump.
PlayStation Vue adds $10 to any market that has “most major live local broadcast stations” according to their website. We have yet to get a firm answer on what the exact number of local channels is that will force your bill to jump $10 a month, but it seems to be four or five.
This move by PlayStation Vue gives it more local CBS stations than Sling TV; however, Sling TV still has more local channels in more markets—with over 50 markets offering local channels. Note: Sling TV does not have any CBS stations on their service.
Once again we are seeing Sling and PlayStation Vue playing chess in their efforts to offer more features, channels, and options.
