This week Sony started to send out the final PlayStation Vue bills, which has confused many subscribers. There was one major issue in the email: It included a line that said the next renewal date would be in January.

According to Sony, PlayStation Vue subscribers won’t be billed after December. This is because PlayStation Vue will shut down at the end of January 2020 and the remainder of January is meant to be free until the service shuts down. Yet this line has left many to wonder if PlayStation Vue is going to shut down or not.

Overall Sony needs to do a better job warning subscribers PlayStation Vue is shutting down. Yes, PlayStation Vue’s website has a warning on it and an email went out but a surprising number of PlayStation Vue subscribers do not know.

Many PlayStation Vue subscribers just use the app and rarely, if ever, go to the website or pay attention to emails coming from Sony. This has left a surprising number of PlayStation Vue subscribers unaware that they will soon need to find a new TV service.

Sony needs to add a warning to the PlayStation Vue app. Without that many subscribers may just one day find themselves without a TV service.

This all comes back to one of the main reasons PlayStation Vue failed: lack of communication. There is no dedicated social media to warn subscribers and just a single email went out. If you are someone who uses a junk email to sign up for services you very likely missed that email.
