PlayStation Vue Makes Their Home Screen More Customizable

Sony is beta testing some new features for their live TV streaming service, PlayStation Vue. Yesterday Sony released a new PlayStation Vue mobile app update that included the ability to edit your home screen.

Have you ever wished you could have control over what shows up on your home screen with PlayStation Vue? With the new Android update they added a feature called “Custome Home Beta Feature.”

According to the change notes the new “Custome Home Beta Feature” will let you:

Add, rearrange, or remove strands on your home screen.

Here are what the options look like:

Many have in the past complained about content on the home screen that is not interesting to PlayStation Vue subscribers. Now unlike other streaming services who want to tell you what they think you like Sony wants to let PlayStation Vue subscribers decide what they want to see.

So far we have only confirmed the update on Android. You may need to go into the Google Play store and update the PlayStation Vue app to find the ability to edit the home screen on PlayStation Vue.

I love to make my apps as ‘Custome’ as possible…

I got this update yesterday and immediately took off the kids section and the sports section. I wish you could also turn off specific channels you don’t want like CNN and MSNBC.

You can only remove Fox news

      • RED ZMAN December 5, 2017 at 11:17 am #

I don’t think you can remove any channels, that’s my point. Let me see a live section of my favorites only.

You can do that on the channel tiles but not in the guide, click up at the top and select favorite only. The guide will show your “favorite” channels first then all the stuff you took out. No service anywhere let’s you “remove” a channel completely. I’ve blocked Faux News and Faux Business because I have common sense and don’t need to watch lies and BS. It might help you to actually go through all the stuff that is already there before complaining.

First, I didn’t complain, I noted something that would be more helpful in the customization.

Where did I complain? I even suggested I liked the update, as I could finally turn off the worthless (to me) sports row, at least on my phone.

I mentioned those two channels because everytime I go to live, those are shown, but are not in my favorites. I’d rather see what’s on my favorites list that is live.

I’ve already done the guide thing, showing only favorites there is fantastic.

So saying they’ll never let you block them, they already let you block groups (the sports, and kids section), so that’s a start.

Why don’t you read and comprehend before you complain?

Sigh, if something isn’t in your favorites it doesn’t appear. At least mine doesn’t … If I were you I would go through what I did and did not mark again. But then again it’s such a small problem I don’t really worry about it.

Ummm, it does sound like complaining, so there is that.

Why don’t you learn to type more clearly before hitting post?

          • RED ZMAN December 5, 2017 at 3:44 pm #

Nope. Things that aren’t in my favorites show up in the LiveTV section all the time.

I’m not worried about it at all, these sections are for commenting, and I did such. I gave an opinion on how it could be made better.

            Still didn’t complain, I made a suggestion.

I typed plenty clearly. Sounds like you can’t read properly.

No worries, I’m done with replying to your sillyness. Good day ma’am.

I didn’t know there was anything other than the sports or kids section. I wouldn’t bother with any of this without those two sections lol.

Awesome, please make this available for Roku. I would like to rearrange a couple of things

    • monte reed December 5, 2017 at 12:58 pm #

agreed, needs it on the roku!!!!!

      • AK December 5, 2017 at 4:49 pm #

Dev on the Roku sucks, so you will be waiting. Or just get a better streaming box.

  3. Lynnneez December 5, 2017 at 11:26 am #

I wish the box version would have the option to see my shows or movies like you have been able to in mobile and browser version for ages. The browser interface is much better but those features never made it to the set top ve4sion. On set top version my new recorded movies disappear into a black hole at the bottom of my shows in some random order. I wonder if this customizrability will just stay in mobile.

Needs a mini guide. If they would allow all channels to show in the “Live TV” menu you could scroll/channel surf thru the channels easily w/out having to bring up the entire guide every time. DirectvNow should do this too with their “Whats On Now” tab. That’s one thing I like better about Sling, their pop up mini guide option. Sometimes you just want to quickly browse the channels w/out the guide taking up the whole screen.

As someone who has been using Vue for a year and a half I have a question

    I have a home screen?
