This week PlayStation Vue added even more Sinclair-owned ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC locals. This puts PlayStation Vue over 600 locals and, more importantly, they now offer ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC in over 50% of the United States.
This comes as PlayStation Vue recently re-added many locals from Tribune and Sinclair. PlayStation Vue is in a close fight for second place with services like fuboTV and YouTube TV. So far though Hulu is still maintaining a strong lead with over 700 live locals in over 67% of the United States.
With a growing number of live TV services in the United States, one of the big battles right now is to offer local channels. While we are still far from any service offering all locals, we are getting closer.
At the start of 2018, we predicted that most locals will be streaming on one or more services by the end of 2018. Now it looks like that prediction will come true as the number of local channels on services like fuboTV, Hulu, YouTube TV, DIRECTV NOW, and PlayStation Vue continue to grow.
