This week Sony rolled out a new Fire TV app with a slightly updated look. Now you will find changes like Explore being replaced with an “OnDemand” section.

One of the biggest changes is improved performance. Multiple readers have reported that switching channels seems to happen a lot faster than on older versions. Some have reported as much as a 50% increase in how quickly channels will change.

Sony has not officially announced a change log. They are still using the same “various bug fixes and improvements” description they have on almost every listing. Hopefully, more updates will be coming to other devices soon because Sony typically starts updating one device and rolls it out to other devices weeks and sometimes months later.

This update comes almost 3 years after PlayStation Vue first launched on the Fire TV in November 2015. Since that launch, this is the largest update to the Fire TV app.
