PlayStation Vue’s Contracts with the Hallmark Channel & Tastemade Are Up for Renewal in November

Today Sony announced that the contract with Crown Media, the parent company behind the Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and Hallmark Drama, is coming up for renewal in November. Joining that list is Tastemade, a second network Sony will need to strike a deal with if Sony wants to keep it on PlayStation Vue.

Contract talks are not new to Sony. Recently Sony has had to strike new deals with many major networks like NBCUniversal, AMC, A+E, and Discovery. So far Sony has successfully reached a deal with every network. (The only exception being the regional sports network NESN.) Hopefully, Crown Media and Tastemade will also reach a deal with Sony to keep their networks on PlayStation Vue.

Here is the warning Sony posted on PlayStation Vue’s website:

Most of the programming/content you watch on PlayStation™Vue is licensed from programmers for the right to air their networks/channels. Once these agreements near expiration, we enter into renewal discussions where we work hard to try and obtain the best value for our customers. Though infrequent, sometimes certain licenses will not be renewed, in which case PlayStation™Vue would no longer carry the affected channels or networks. This section will be updated periodically to list channels and networks coming up for renewal. Please note that the dates listed below are subject to change.

October 2019

    • None

November 2019

    • Crown Media
    • Tastemade

Even if these networks go dark on PlayStation Vue, hopefully, they will quickly be re-added when a new deal is reached.
