Today Plex announced that they have added Local Now to their media software. Now Plex users can access Local Now content through Plex News.

“Local Now continues to serve as a great example of how our audience continues to find ways to consume weather, news and information on alternative platforms and demonstrates our commitment to evolving our business and continuing our leadership position in the market,” said Tom O’Brien, President of The Weather Channel television network and Local Now.

So what is Local Now? The Weather Channel’s Local Now provides localized updates relevant to 207 markets (think LA, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, Tallahassee, etc.), in partnership with some of the most trusted news sources across the U.S. including The Weather Channel, the Associated Press, SportRadar, TrafficLand, and INRIX. Its localized content cycles on a short loop that’s refreshed at the top of every hour.

If you have ever seen The Weather Channel’s Local on the 8s, you are likely familiar with Local Now. Yet not only does it show you local weather but also a rolling list of content from Associated Press, Reuters, Foursquare, American City Business Journals, Stadium, Cheddar, Pointslocal, SportRadar, Internet Video Archive, TrafficLand, INRIX, Flight Aware, and more.

Local Now’s leading content partners include The Associated Press, Reuters, Tribune Content Agency, Thrillist, Curbed, Yelp, Stadium, Cheddar, SportRadar, Internet Video Archive, TrafficLand, INRIX, Flight Aware, and more. Local Now is available across a portfolio of over-the-top (OTT), mobile, and TV platforms, including YouTube TV, Sling TV, Xumo, MobiTV, fuboTV, iOS, Android, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
