That really is a personal opinion. Both are great and I would pick the one that is right for you. 

Roku is, by far, the most popular. You can definitely control numerous platforms with a Roku device. Remote, tho, is too simple. Doesn’t have quite enuf options. There are a whole range of Roku units – some w. wifi (rather than IR) control – meaning you can hide the Roku unit anywhere.
I have not used “Android”. Do make very heavy use of Chromecast.
