Redbox is Launching a New Streaming Service

A few years ago Redbox and Verizon teamed up for a movie streaming service called Redbox Instant. That service ended up shutting down a few years ago and any movie purchased there was moved over to what is now the FandangoNOW streaming service. (Formally MGo)

For some time now we have heard that Redbox was working on a new streaming service and yesterday they made it official. The new Redbox streaming beta service will let you rent movies for $4 and streaming it on a growing list of devices including iOS, Android, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, LG TVs, Samsung TVs, and the Redbox website. You will also be able to buy movies for $10.

Right now the services does not include any Disney movies as Disney and Redbox are currently in a lawsuit over Redbox selling digital download codes to Disney movies.

Here is how they describe the new Redbox On Demand service:

Redbox On Demand delivers a broad selection of movies to rent or purchase for streaming. The hottest new movie releases including DunkirkThe Lego Ninjago Movie and Flatliners now on EST and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Home Again, Detroit and All Saints now on VOD, and more are now available.
