Over the years, Redbox has expanded from just the red kiosks outside of grocery stores. In addition to the nearly 40,000 kiosks, Redbox also offers more comprehensive streaming options including Ad Supported Video On Demand (AVOD), and Transactional Video On Demand services. Now, the company has revealed which movies of 2021 were most popular across each platform.

Ryan Reynolds’ Free Guy was the top movie on Redbox On Demand in 2021, along with other heavy hitters like The Croods: A New Age, F9, The Fast Saga, and more. A Quiet Place Part II also made the top ten list.

By comparison, the movies that did well at DVD kiosks were slightly different than those viewers wanted to watch on-demand. The Croods: A New Age was also high on this list (No. 1 in fact), but there were also some titles exclusive to the kiosk list including Wonder Woman 1984 and News of the World. Both of titles were available on streaming services besides Redbox, making it seem like the DVD and on-demand viewers are mutually exclusive.
