Review: Quantum Access Windows® 8.1 Mini PC Stick, Intel Baytrail-T (Quad-core)

The Quantum Access is a powerful Windows 8.1 Quad-Core PC that fits into the palm of your hand. Built by Quantum Suppliers, they offer amazing technical support by email and phone. And, when you call for support you will be talking to someone right here in the United States.

This fanless PC is the perfect Mini PC Stick for cord cutters, because it offers access too many browser-only services that you cannot find on Roku or Fire TV. Having a full PC connected to your TV is a huge plus, too, because it allows you to access great sites like CBS Sports for free access to March basketball games or free legal streams of NFL games.

The only real downside to the device is a lack of a remote or other device to control the Mini PC Stick. We used the Rii i8+ keyboard and touchpad. They worked well together, and preprogramed buttons like volume, home, play/pause, etc., functioned without any additional set up. If you would like to see our full review of the Rii i8+ please click HERE.

We tested the Quantum Access with Kodi, Netflix, Watch ESPN, Hulu, and Amazon Instant. The video on each service played smoothly and loaded quickly, making it a cheap but very powerful option for cord cutters to watch streaming video.

  • 32GB Internal Storage
  • Full copy of Windows 8.1
  • Great Wi-Fi Reception
  • Fanless
  • Runs Kodi Smoothly
  • Quad Core Intel Processor
  • Great 1080p Video Out
  • 2GB of DDR3L Ram

  • Need additional device to control it remotely

Pro Tip:

Enabling antenna diversity will dramatically increase your Wi-Fi speed. Here is a short YouTube video showing you how to enable antenna diversity on the Quantum Access.

Overall we give the Quantum Access a 10 out of 10 for speed and video playback. If you are looking for a full Windows PC that can fit into the palm of your hand, this is the device for you.

I am debating between the Quantum Access or Quantum Byte. Primary use would be to stream video content. Is the Byte video processing much better than the Access? Thanks

I think both process video just as well as the other. The real benefit is the USB ports on the bite and the axis is a lot smaller. If all you want is to stream Netflix or similar services both of these will get the job done.

From reading and watching reviews, I think the Quantum Access is better due to its greater Wi-Fi capability
