Ricky Gervais said in a interview with U.K.’s Radio Times that Netflix and the BBC have expressed a desire to work on a spinoff from the UK The Office.

Grvais told the Radio Times “It could happen”.

“I love David Brent, but I can’t just do it as a vanity project, because the BBC and Netflix are up for it,” Ricky Gervais said. “I don’t know whether to do an on-the-road special or make that the whole series.”

The original UK The Office series ended its run 11 years ago.

Netflix launched in the UK and Ireland in January 2012. Bring new episodes of a popular UK show could help Netflix UK in a similar fashion as Arrested Development’s move to Netflix helped grow the US market. The Office also has a large world wide following and could help grow Netflix around the world.

Netflix and the BBC have yet to comment on Ricky Gervais remarks.
