Later today Roku will announce their first quarter 2018 earnings. Here are three things you should know about Roku’s earnings report.

#1 Active Users

At the end of 2017 Roku had 19.3 million active accounts. That was up 2.6 million from the fourth quarter of 2017. With the holiday season over it will be interesting to see what Roku’s growth looks like.

#2 Revenue Per Users

At the end of 2017 Roku averaged a yearly revenue of $13.78 per user. That was up 48% compared to 2016. As Roku moves away from making their money on devices to services and ads is something to keep an eye on.

#3 Platform Revenue

In the fourth quarter of 2017 revenue from the Roku platform (ads, subscriptions, etc.) surpassed device sales and made up 74.6% of Roku’s gross margin. Keep a close eye on revenue from device sales and the Roku platform.

Roku is still the number one streaming player in the United States. A recent survey of Cord Cutters News readers showed about 70% of our readers use Roku in their homes.
