Roku Wants to Keep Ads on The Roku Channel Low

The Roku Channel

The Roku ChannelRoku says they run 8 minutes of ads per hour of streaming on The Roku Channel. According to Roku, they want to keep the number of ads per hour low. This comes as Roku reported revenue from ads and subscriptions through places like the Roku Channel went up 65% in the 2nd quarter year over year to $167.7 million.

“The growth and monetization of The Roku Channel, the growth of Roku proprietary targeting segments in advertising campaigns, the importance of our direct customer relationship and data, the potential impact of trade tariffs, our investments, and our overall business trajectory. Since the launch of The Roku, Channel Roku has slowly been expanding it. You can now use The Roku Channel on non-Roku devices. Roku has also added live free streams from places like Stadium and ABC News. This is on top of a growing lineup of free movies and TV shows available on The Roku Channel.
