Sinclair is interested in adding to its regional sports networks, with NY Post reporting that Sinclair Broadcasting Group has made an offer for NBCUniversal’s seven RSNs.

Sources told the Post that an offer was made during the first round of bids, which took place before NBC shared financial details about the RSNs. Those details will be given to bidders during the next round.

Sinclair bought Fox Sports networks in May 2019. Dish and Sling TV dropped the channels that summer, followed by Hulu, YouTube TV, and fuboTV in 2020. The channels were rebranded earlier this year to Bally Sports Networks and are now only streaming on AT&T TV. Sinclair has shared plans to bring the channels direct to consumer before the 2022 MLB season.

If Sinclair does make it through the upcoming bidding rounds to acquire NBC’s RSNs, the deal would include NBC Sports Bay Area, NBC Sports Boston, NBC Sports California, NBC Sports Chicago, NBC Sports Northwest, NBC Sports Philadelphia, NBC Sports Washington, and stake in SportsNet New York.
