At the beginning of the month, we shared a story about an update that would allow Siri to find movies and TV shows through Apple TV remotes on the DIRECTV NOW app.
Now, Reddit users have discovered that Apple TV users can give Siri commands from their connected iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch to their DIRECTV NOW app.
If you’re having trouble getting the app to work from your devices, you might need to set up the connection between your devices. These are the instructions from Apple:
- Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to the latest version of iOS.
- Make sure that you have an Apple TV with the latest version of tvOS.
- Connect your iOS device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV.
- Add your Apple TV to the Home app and make sure that it’s assigned to a room.
Without connecting through the Home app first, the commands might try to launch through your iPhone, iPod, or iPad instead of the Apple TV, which some Reddit users were having some problems with.
When you’re updated and connected, you’ll be able to tell Siri to open Game of Thrones on Apple TV and DIRECTV NOW will respond by bringing the show up and starting right where you left off.
Apple TV and DIRECTV NOW users, have you tried this update yet? Has it worked for you?
