Today Dish announced their 1st quarter 2018 numbers including a fresh look at Sling TV. According to Dish Sling TV added 91,000 additional Sling TV subscribers in the 1st quarter of 2018.

Sling TV’s growth helped but did not offset the losses over on the Dish TV side. According to the report, Dish lost 185,000 subscribers int he 1st quarter of 2018. All together Dish’s TV subscribers dropped from 13.52 million in the 1st quarter of 2017 to 13.14 million in the 1st quarter of 2018. Overall revenue was down to $84.50 million down from $86.55 in the first quarter of 2017.

The good news for Dish was that well pay TV subs dropped 94,000 that loss is smaller than the 143,000 they lost over the same period last year. Dish was the first may pay-TV provider to embrace live TV streaming. That move seems to be paying off and helping them withstand the growing cord cutting trend. Well, other providers are losing subscribers Dish has an opportunity to replace them with Sling TV subscribers.
