Today after months of waiting for a reader pointed out to me today that the DVR for Air TV is now available release new DVR service for their Air TV. I have just confirmed with the AirTV team that while the feature is not, in fact, available today, the update will be coming very soon to your AirTV. With the new DVR feature, you will be able to record straight from your antenna to your Air TV and stream it across multiple devices including streaming players like Roku, Fire TV, phones, tablets, and laptops to name a few. You can access your DVR recordings through the Sling TV. Now you will need a dedicated external USB hard drive (purchased independently) attached to AirTV to use Local Channels DVR. AirTV will support recording up to 2 Terabytes of local content.
Local Channels DVR features include:
- Storage: When connected to a dedicated external hard drive, AirTV can store up to 2TB of recorded OTA content.
- Integrated DVR menu: Recorded OTA content will appear in the same menu as Sling TV Cloud DVR, indicated by an OTA icon to differentiate it from Sling TV recordings. The integrated DVR menu can be sorted by date, alphabetically, or based on whether the show has been watched.
- Functionality: AirTV Local Channels DVR feature records up to two free over-the-air (OTA) broadcast channels simultaneously.
