Watching tv and using remote controlStarting today Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit will begin rolling out to select Sony Smart TVs including the XBR, Z9F, and XBR A9F series Sony TVs. This update will roll out to select Sony TVs with Android TV made in 2018 or 2019. You will get AirPlay 2 support as part of the Android TV update that is now rolling out.

The December Android TV update is currently rolling out to select Sony TVs. This Android TV 9.0 update is what will bring you the AirPlay 2 support. So if you have one of the supported TV models listed above, be sure to check for updates on your TV.

Sadly, unlike Samsung TVs, there will be no Apple TV support on Sony TVs at this time. This means you will need an iPhone, Mac, or iPad to cast your videos to your Sony Smart TV.

Did you get this new update? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think of AirPlay 2 support on Sony Android TVs.
