Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating people cancelling cable TV service

Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating people cancelling cable TV serviceThe bad news for cable companies is continuing to grow as a new study from Telaria shows that most Americans would cut the cord if they knew how to do it.

According to the white paper from Telaria and Adobe, 20% of Americans don’t know how they would access TV without cable TV. 42% say they thought only cable TV can deliver live TV. 34% of Americans stay with cable because they want access to a lot of channels, and 32% stay because they fear losing their favorite networks.

The truth is for most Americans they can get what they want with cord cutting. Want live TV? There is a growing number of services like Sling TV, Hulu, and Philo that all offer live TV. Want a large number of channels? DIRECTV NOW’s Gotta Have It package includes 125+ channels.

Worried about losing your favorite networks? Today, most cable networks stream online through services.

From the looks of this report and talking to new cord cutters, the main issue holding people back from cord cutting seems to be just a lack of information. Many Americans still do not know what options they have. They are so used to cable that they just assume that is the only option to get what they want.

As more Americans learn about cord cutting look for cord cutting to grow.
