This week Tablo rolled out an update to their popular DVR to add a 14-day grid guide. In the past, you could only go out 1 day in the grid guide now you can set up recordings 14 days in advance. (You could always find data 14-days out through areas like the shows and movies tab now its available through the grid guide.)

Tablo Roku Channel Update (v 2.10.0)

  • Adds support for a full 14 days of data within the Live TV Grid
    (requires an active trial/subscription + 2.2.26 firmware)
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements

Tablo does have one warning about the new feature “if you have a slightly older model or a slower home network, you may wish to keep the 1-day guide but those with newer hardware and faster networks can enjoy the full 14 days on a regular basis.”

Update: Tablo reached out to clarify that if you have one of the very old Roku Players you may want to stay with the 1-day guide.

This news comes as Tablo has recently rolled out their new Tablo Quad DVR with 4-tuners and an optional internal hard drive. Tablo DVRs also recently received the ability to auto-skip commercials in DVR recordings. Nuvyyo the parent company behind Tablo DVRs also back in February announced that they have received a $1 million CAD in new funding from BDC Capital’s Growth and Transition Capital.

“Thanks to this injection of funds from BDC Capital, we are able to rapidly expand production of Tablo DUAL LITE OTA DVRs to fulfill recent orders from a top-tier consumer electronics retailer to supply 1000-plus stores in the U.S., as well as to continue R&D for the company’s next generation products,” says Grant Hall, CEO of Nuvyyo.

The transaction on BDC Capital’s side was led by Robert Shaw, Director, Growth and Transition Capital, Ottawa. “Nuvyyo’s deep and well-rounded management team has kept the company ahead of the curve in the fast-growing international cord cutting market,” says Shaw. “Their success in raising substantial VC funds early on provides convincing validation of the company’s capabilities and technology, and of the importance of the opportunity at hand.”

This was the first time Nuvyyo has received new funding since 2013 and comes a month after it was announced that Tablo DVRs will be receiving the ability to automatically skip commercials. Tablo DVR recently was named the best OTA DVR of 2018 by the readers of Cord Cutters News.
