Earlier today Tablo DVRs posted an important update on their Tablo Guide Data Subscription and Cloud DVR. Here is what you need to now:

DVR Subscription Changes:

Now the first thing you need to know is that current subscribers will see no change to their DVR subscription. New subscribers though will find a few changes.

The big change is that now a Tablo DVR subscription for new subscribers will only be good on one DVR. In the past, you could have one Tablo DVR subscription managing multiple Tablo DVRs. Now you will need a subscription for each DVR you own. There is one catch though Tablo says that if you have two DVRs now with a single Tablo DVR subscription you will be grandfathered in. If you buy a 3rd DVR you will need to transfer a subscription from one DVR to the new one or buy a new subscription for the 3rd Tablo DVR.

You will still be able to transfer your current Tablo subscription from your old DVR to new DVRs if you would ever want to upgrade to a new 4 tuner DVR for example.

Tablo Cloud DVR Update

Since March of 2018 Tablo has been beta testing a cloud DVR feature. During testing the Cloud DVR was free to use and offered 64GB of storage. Now Tablo has announced plans to start charging $4.99 USD or $5.99 CAD per month if you would like to use the cloud DVR. You will still be able to connect an external hard drive to your Tablo DVR for free. This charge is only for people wanting to use Tablo’s Cloud DVR feature.

This change will happen on June 1st 2019. On that day if you do not upgrade to a paid version you will still have access to your recorded shows for 30 more days but you will no longer be able to record new shows if you do not pay.
