Tablo Launches a New ‘Preview’ Tablo App on Fire TV & Android TV

This week Tablo DVRs launched a new preview app for Fire TV and Android TV. This app allows Tablo DVR owners to test out new features before it goes live to everyone.

So whats new in the preview app?

New Look

The new Preview App has a newly updated look to make it easier to read the Tablo DVR guide. Here is what the new app looks like:

New Grid Screen

Tablo also added a new gride screen that will promote new shows that are available with your antenna. This screen is designed to Tablo DVR owners discover new shows that they may not know about.

New Settings

Now with the new preview app, you will find a refreshed settings screen. With new options to manage scheduled recordings and access to most Tablo OTA DVR settings.

Whats Not in The New Preview App

Tablo says a few features are still in the works for the featured app. Some filters like ‘most recent’ and ‘genre’ are not currently available. Also, the ability to resolve recording conflicts are currently unavailable in the Preview app.

“That being said, the team is already working hard on bringing these screens and features to the Tablo Preview app. Once those features are finished, the Tablo Preview app will replace the current Tablo app for Amazon Fire TV and Android TV.” Tablo said in a blog post on their site.

It’d be nice if the grid screen would finally go further than 24 hours in the future. That’s like the stupidest easy thing that has yet to be implemented.

Yeah, we COULD do it but the hard part is making it fast and useable. The reason why we opted to put anything airing further out than 24 hours in a Netflix-style guide is that scrolling through 14 days of grid would make anyone’s eyes start to bleed.

When will the Apple TV App get some love and see a major update?

The last Apple TV update added a settings screen and there’s another major update in the works right now. ETA is before Xmas barring any delays!

Why does my tablo only show guide info for a couple of my 40 stations? I live in a major market Philadelphia. My tv without tablo shows all of them.

Any idea if a “Back” or “Jump” type button can be added? Just some way to switch from the current program to the last one viewed would be awesome.
