It looks like Game of Thrones final season premiere was a big hit for HBO. Reports are in that the HBO NOW’s App was downloaded 300,000 times in just one weekend leading up to the premiere of Game of Thrones. HBO GO the app for cable subscriber was reportedly downloading 400,000 times over the same period according to a report from Tech Crunch.
This comes as HBO announced that the premier was viewed by 17.4 million viewers and was the most streamed night in the history of HBO. According to HBO the HBO NOW app saw an approximate jump of 50% in viewing when compared to last season’s finale and nearly doubled (97%) when compared to the seventh season premiere.
According to readers who streamed the premiere, HBO successfully handled the millions of Americans streaming the show. There were some early reports of HBO GO being down but HBO NOW the cord cutting version reportedly stayed up and ran smoothly for the millions of Game of Throne fans.
