Roku shared an update on The Roku Channel today, announcing that since the launch of Roku Originals, the free streaming service has seen a record number of accounts streaming the free content. More than one in three Roku Channel viewers streamed a Roku Original series in the first two weeks, with users streaming over nine episodes on average.

Roku launched Roku Originals last month, starting with 30 new titles added to The Roku Channel. The first batch of Roku Originals includes the shows, movies, and documentaries acquired from Quibi. Original content developed by Roku or acquired by Roku in the future will also fall under the Roku Originals label.

In today’s announcement, Roku said that the top ten most watched programs on The RokuChannel were all Roku Originals in the two-week period following the launch of Roku Originals.

“We always believed Roku Originals would perform exceptionally well as free, ad -supported entertainment on The Roku Channel.” said Rob Holmes, Roku’s Vice President of Programming. “The first two weeks have surpassed our expectations, with millions of people streaming Roku Originals, and provided a further demonstration of The Roku Channel flywheel, with great content driving record engagement that’s appealing to advertisers seeking to reach the streaming audience.”

What’s up next for The Roku Channel? 45 more Roku Originals will be added to the free streaming service this year. Roku also recently made a deal with Saban Films to bring films straight to The Roku Channel after theatrical releases.

In addition to Roku devices, The Roku Channel is available on Web, iOS and Android devices, Amazon Fire TV and select Samsung TVs.
