Today Roku announced that its free ad-supported streaming services now offers access to 10,000 free movies and TV shows. What is The Roku Channel? The Roku Channel is Roku’s new streaming service that offers 100% free movies and TV shows all in one place. The new “The Roku Channel,” offers a collection of top films from leading movie studios.
“We also had a strong quarter for The Roku Channel, which now offers access to more than 10,000 free ad-supported movies and TV episodes and more than two dozen live streaming channels. In Q1, we added Premium Subscriptions to The Roku Channel, which now offers more than 30 premium content services, including HBO, SHOWTIME, EPIX, and STARZ. We’re excited about the growth of The Roku Channel, which offers ad-supported content, live programming, and Premium Subscriptions all in a friendly, consistent UI, with a single login and one bill.” Roku said in a statement on their website.
You don’t need a Roku to access The Roku Channel. You can also go to TheRokuChannel.com and login with your Roku account to start browsing on most modern browsers including Chrome, Edge, Safari, and FireFox. You will have access to all the same movies and TV shows you would on a Roku without the need for an actual Roku player.
Roku also reported that they have added 2 million new active accounts. In total Roku now has 29.1 million accounts owners.
