The Roku Channel made announcement about three original series this week, including one renewal and two more original shows coming to its free streaming service.

The Roku Original scripted animated series “Doomlands” will return for season two. Roku says that the second season will be a continuation of season one, inviting audiences along for more adventures with the infamous Danny Doom and aspiring bartender, Lhandi, as they sling beers across a hellish wasteland in their mobile pub: The Oasis. Facing ruthless desert gangs, memory-stealing creeps, and even mean bathroom graffiti, all this crew’s got to do to survive is not kill each other. The second season will have 10 15-minute episodes.

We could not be more excited to continue working with the brilliant Josh O’Keefe on his wildly hilarious brainchild ‘Doomlands,’ said Colin Davis, Head of Scripted Originals, Roku. “It was so incredible to see the world of Danny Doom resonate with our streamers, and we look forward to bringing them along for more even laugh-out-loud worthy adventures in season two.”

Roku also announced the greenlight of two new Roku Originals “Survival From Above” and “Lincoln Log Project” (working title.) Both are scheduled to come to The Roku Channel in 2023. Read more about the two new shows, below.

Survival From Above: There is one place on this planet humans have yet dared call home – the canopy of the South American Rainforest. For the first time in history, ten survivalists will take survival to a whole new level. Ten people, Ten treetops, and one unpredictable jungle in one of the most extreme, adventure challenges ever attempted: all suspended 100 feet above the jungle floor. Who has the skills to survive the longest before ever stepping foot on the ground, and be the “last person hanging” for the $100,000 prize? Survival From Above will start production later this year in the rainforest of Guyana. The eight, hour-long episode series is produced by Carvan (an All3 Media company) with Dinah Lord, Rafael Montserrat and Jane McGoldrick executive producing, with Kristina Obradovic as Production Consultant.

Lincoln Log Project (wt): Inspired by Hasbro’s iconic childhood toy Lincoln Logs, this build series brings fantasy to reality on a grander scale, as our master builders take ordinary log cabin design and catapult it into the stratosphere. Viewers will get an up-close look at what it takes to design the ultimate Lincoln Log cabins from the ground up, from the moment the crew yells “timber,” until the keys are handed off at the front door. Each episode will dive into the artisanal and transformational process of hand-cutting and custom-crafting life-size Lincoln Logs to the surprise and delight of each cabin’s new owners.  “Lincoln Log Project” (wt) will start production later this year. The series’ eight, hour-long episodes are produced by eOne with Tara Long, Geno McDermott, Gennifer Gardiner and Cindy Bertram executive producing.

“Today’s series greenlights plant Roku Originals’ flag in the adventure and exploration unscripted genres, which will not only excite our current streamer base, but also attract new audiences to The Roku Channel, said Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Alternative Originals, Roku. “It’s an honor to work with the phenomenal teams at eOne and Caravan to create bold, premium content for audiences to enjoy for free.”
