When looking at the most popular streaming services among cord cutters, it’s safe to say that Hulu has earned a spot at the top of the list. With the introduction of Hulu with Live TV and the consistent additions of new content, there’s always something new to watch.
Plans and Pricing
When signing up for a Hulu account, you’ll have the option of a basic plan, Hulu with Live TV, and either plan without commercials.
Hulu’s basic plan costs $7.99/month. You’ll have access to Hulu’s library of streaming content, with limited commercials. The content can only be streamed on one device at a time, but you’ll have the option to create up to 6 separate profiles. For $11.99/month, you’ll get the same plan, without commercial breaks.
A Hulu with Live TV plan costs $39.99/month. With this plan, you’ll have access to the library of streaming content, along with 50+ live and on-demand channels. You’ll also have the option to record live TV, with 50 hours of DVR storage. Again, you can create up to 6 separate profiles, but with this plan, you can stream on two devices simultaneously.
With the Hulu with Live TV plan, you’ll also have the option of an enhanced cloud DVR with 200 hours of storage for $14.99/month and an upgrade to view on an unlimited amount of screens for $14.99/month. If you bundle both add ons, you’ll get a discounted price of $20/month.

What’s New
Recently, Hulu made an agreement with Viacom to bring new content to the streaming service. The deal will make Hulu the exclusive source for watching select shows and movies from Nickelodeon networks. Start looking for shows from Nickelodeon, VH1, and Comedy Central. In addition to adding content from different channels, the Hulu team has been creating more original content. News seasons of favorite Hulu original series, including Harlots and I Love You, America are scheduled to begin in July. After the success of The Handmaid’s Tale and other originals, Hulu CEO Randy Freer has commented that he hopes to add 20 or 25 series in 2019.
The live TV option has gotten an upgrade for several devices, as of May 2018. If you’re using Hulu with Live TV on Apple TV, XBox One, Amazon Fire TV, or Nintendo Switch, you’ll now be able to use an enhanced guide to scan the shows currently airing and easily search for the things you want to watch.
With over 800,000 live TV subscribers and 20 million total subscribers, Hulu is making an effort to focus on the user experience, along with improving technology and introducing new content. Leadership is changing, and we’ll be sure to see more updates and changes in the coming months.
