Note: Vizio sent us the 65 inch version of the P-Series TV to test out.

If you’re looking for the image quality of an OLED TV but don’t have the budget for it, take a look at Vizio’s P-Series Quantum TVs.

With the P-Series Quantum TV, you’ll get a bright, vivid picture and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ at a fraction of the cost of OLED TVs. The TV also has four HDMI ports, along with ethernet and coax inputs, so you can connect all of your devices.

“Maximize your XBox Series One X and PS5 gaming performance with powerful features like 4K 120fps and AMD FreeSync Premium. Enjoy smoother graphics and lower input lag that let you dominate the competition like a pro.”

Active Pixel Tuning further refines these attributes at the pixel level to make every scene radiate with stunning realism.”

Let’s talk about the SmartCast OS. With previous Vizio models, both reviewers and everyday users ran into a lot of issues with Vizio’s SmartCast platform, from not being able to easily find apps to shows freezing and requiring a power shut off and restart. With recent updates, content is more organized, the WatchFree channel guide is easier to navigate, and switching between apps and settings has gotten faster.

Unlike other smart TV interfaces, with Vizio, all of the available apps are displayed in the app row of the home screen. No app downloading is required. Vizio has been busy adding more apps to its lineup this year. FuboTV and HBO Max are two of the most recent additions. Personally, I didn’t have any issue opening apps or switching from one to another with very little lag time.

If you don’t find the app you’re looking for, the TV supports both Apple AirPlay and Google Cast, so you can mirror your smartphone, tablet, or computer screen.

The included remote has six branded buttons to take you straight to Peacock, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney, or two of our favorite free streaming services – Crackle and Tubi. Vizio also has a button to take you to its WatchFree service with free ad-supported content. WatchFree doesn’t quite have the same selection as other free services, but we won’t complain about more free, easily accessible content.

The remote also has a built-in microphone, allowing for voice commands. Use SmartCast’s voice commands or connect your smart speaker to use the commands you’re used to.

“P‑Series seamlessly integrates with popular smart home devices so you can do things like check your front door camera, sync your TV and room lighting, and control the TV just by using your voice.”

No, $1200 isn’t cheap for a new TV, but for a 4K UHD TV of this size, the price is right. And, because it’s that time of the year, we recommend comparing your options and waiting for Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales before making the purchase.
