Recently, Intertrust and Friends MTS announces a partnership agreement to enhance Intertrust’s ExpressPlay content protection platform with cutting-edge Friend MTS anti-piracy and watermarking technology services.
This partnership will add another layer of protection to the ExpressPlay content security suite. The goal is to tackle piracy with an anti-piracy platform that can effectively shut down a stream by stopping transmission from the endpoint where it’s being redistributed illegally.

Piracy is more prevalent than ever, with illegal streaming services being sued by television providers and millions in revenue being lost each year due to piracy.

The ExpressPlay anti-piracy solution incorporates Friend MTS content and revenue security functionality, including content monitoring and legal enforcement for channels, events, and other content. Video watermarking works by embedding a unique identifier for each user to find which user is re-streaming content.
A set process and real time ability to detect and stop piracy offers the ability to stop illegal redistribution immediately. ExpressPlay DRM is the only multi-DRM cloud service that supports all five major DRM platforms: Apple FairPlay Streaming, Google Widevine, Adobe Access, Microsoft PlayReady and the open-standard Marlin DRM.
