TiVo_LogoThis week it was leaked that TiVo is working on a new DVR called the TiVo Mavrik, with a refreshed interface and cloud storage of your local OTA recording, which could make it really stand out from current TiVo DVRs.

The Mavrik DVR was spotted by Zatznotfunny.com and seems to be similar in purpose to the Tablo DVR, but with one major difference: the ability to store your content in the cloud rather than having a hard drive in your house that you can access online.

That would allow you to access the Mavrik DVR recordings with the TiVo App that works as a user interface for OTA Streaming, Diskless Cloud DVR TiVo Device Mantis on phones, tablets, streaming players, and more.

Here are a few highlights:

  • TV Program Guide
  • OTA Live Streaming
  • Streaming Content Search, allowing users to deep link into their Amazon Prime Video account
  • Cloud DVR access

The real question now is at what price will it be available. TiVo has a huge following of supporters; however, other companies have slowly been chipping away at their following with less expensive devices and lower monthly fees. Hopefully we will learn more about the new TiVo Mavrik DVR soon or receive an official announcement in the weeks to come.
