Here Are the Top 5 Reasons People Cancel Cable

Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating retired people cancelling cable TV serviceCord cutting is on the rise as more and more people ditch cable to become cord cutters. Almost weekly a new service or device comes out to reach cord cutters.

So what is driving people to become cord cutters? DigitalSmiths, a TiVo-owned research company, took a look at the top reasons people are ditching traditional pay TV such as cable.

Here are the top 5 reasons people cancel cable TV:

#1 Convenience

#2 It’s cheaper

#3 No commercials or ads

#4 Ability to watch what they want and binge watch

#5 Better selection

Many are likely surprised to see convenience as a more popular option that the price point; however, there is a lot to be said about the ability to have your content when and where you want it. Just this week I took a trip to see family and brought a Roku along. After plugging the Roku Stick into the TV it was like I was right at home. All of my shows on Movies on Amazon and all my Sling TV channels are right there with me.

I do think many will agree the ability to avoid commercials is a major selling point to being a cord cutter.

My top five reasons for cutting the cord are:
    1. It’s cheaper
    2. It’s cheaper
    3. It’s cheaper
    4. It’s cheaper
    5. It’s cheaper

I would have never done it if I didn’t save a ton of money.

I agree. It’s cheaper. That was my main reason. No commercials, binging and broader selection came into play as reinforcers after the fact, but weren’t my first draw. Not sure about convenience good or bad. Another savings I learned of after the fact was the reduction in electrical usage as the cable boxes really like sucking on the juice.

For me, the top reasons are:
    1. 100% commercial-free
    2. 100% on-demand

    my reasons:
    1. money…saving $55+ per month
    2. flexibility- if service changes dump and go to another, no contract
    3. additional features thru apps

Only catch for me was data cap from ISP. I had to upgrade to 1TB which cut into savings otherwise to hell with conventional TV.

Commercials are evil. No price is to high to be rid of them…And yeah, so much cheaper with so much more content.

Definitely, The Increase In Pricing Is Uniting Cord-Cutters. Half The Cable Prices To What They Are Really Worth And Pay Television Providers Wouldn’t Be Going Through This “Painc Attack” … Brains, Use Them And Negotiate.
