For the next two weeks, Tablo is giving its OTA DVR customers access to its Automatic Commercial Skip feature, allowing viewers to enjoy their recorded content without sitting through annoying ads.
Starting now and through September 29th, all Tablo DVR users with an active TV Guide Data Service subscription can enjoy free access to Tablo’s Premium Service which enables the Automatic Commercial Skip feature.
The feature was introduced last year but has gotten some updates since then. The feature is now available on mobile apps, it works with newscasts, and is better at detecting the end of episodes so you’ll be sure to skip commercials without missing out on the beginning of your next episode.
What is the TV Guide Data Service?
This is an optional guide data service that’s recommended for the best cord cutting experience since it enables extra features including series recordings as well as out-of-home streaming through Tablo Connect. All new and refurbished Tablo OTA DVRs come with a free 30-Day trial of the TV Guide Data subscription and Premium Service subscription. After that, a TV Guide Data Service subscription costs $4.99/month (or $49.99/year or $149.99 for a lifetime pass.)
What is Automatic Commercial Skip?
Once Automatic Commercial Skip is enabled within the settings screen of a compatible Tablo app, your Tablo DVR will upload a small portion of eligible completed recordings to the Tablo Commercial Skip Server for processing. When a recording has been processed successfully, a new playlist will be delivered back to your Tablo that will automatically jump over the ads.
