Update to Our Story on PlayStation Vue Making Changes to Their DVR

Last Friday we reported on PlayStation Vue making a change to its DVR. This came as a result of several readers messaging us about not being able to fast forward on some PlayStation Vue recordings. We then tested our PlayStation Vue subscription and were also unable to fast forward some of the shows we had recorded with the DVR because it defaulted to its on-demand recording for many Fox and AMC shows.

After receiving complaints about the DVR and being able to reproduce the issue in our office, we decided to publish after Sony failed to reply to our email within a reasonable time.

After the story, comments kept coming in not only about being unable to fast forward but also about general DVR issues:

At this time we are unsure of what to make of the PlayStation Vue DVR. For some users there are no issues; for other users, there are widespread issues.

Now Sony has a history of just rolling out features to some users to test them out and at first we thought that was what was happening. Now we are unsure whether Sony is testing something new or if this is just one of the issues some users are experiencing with their DVR.

Cord Cutters News has tried to reach out to Sony for comment on this issue and the DVR issues in general and Sony has declined to reply to our story.

Cord Cutters News plans to continue to be on the cutting edge of cord cutting news. For now, though, we don’t know what to make of this one. While now most PlayStation Vue subscribers say they can fast forward through commercials on all DVR recordings, others are reporting issues including only getting the on-demand version that won’t allow them to fast forward.

We will keep an eye on this story and update it as we learn more.
