Online movie stream with mobile device. Man watching film on tablet with imaginary video player service.Recently we learned that Viacom was planning on launching an ad-supported streaming service. Now we are learning more about what they plan to offer with this new ad-supported streaming service.

This week Bob Bakish, the CEO of Viacom, opened up a bit about their new streaming service. According to Bakish, Viacom plans to use thousands of hours of Viacom’s back catalog to beef up their new streaming service.

Bob Bakish went on to say little about the new streaming service and acknowledged that they were being a bit cryptic. We still don’t know when or how Viacom will launch the service. All we know is it will go live by the end of 2018 and will offer access to thousands of hours of back catalog content.

A few of the most important questions are still out there: Will it offer access to new shows that aired that week? What devices will the service offer?

The good news is the new Viacom service moved from something that people familiar with the situation knew about to a service Viacom’s CEO has confirmed. Hopefully, soon we will have even more details.
