This week the long-awaited live TV streaming service Vidgo launched. First announced at CES 2016, Vidgo had quietly been just sitting there. Now it has launched two Spanish packages and plans to launch a $39.99 English package soon, which Vidgo says will be a “compelling skinny bundle with over 50 channels of English programming.”

“The way people watch tv has completely changed in the past few years thanks to the Netflix effect,” said Shane Cannon, CEO of Vidgo. “In this new environment, consumers expect to watch their favorite content across a multi-screen platform at home or on the go. The Vidgo app provides us with the ability to serve all platforms and deliver the best live streaming experience to customers anywhere in the United States.”

When asked about what took so long for Vidgo to launch, Cannon said, “Vidgo had a change in control and ownership a year ago and shifted their distribution strategy to focus on the underserved. Under the new leadership, the company has decided to focus on four genres of live programming – Sports, Entertainment, Latino, and Family.” He went on to say, “Entering the market as an independent that targets underserved customers with compelling Sports and Latino content is a recipe for success. We will deliver a customer no one else can.”

Vidgo is offering a 72-hour free trial of their service with 30 Latino channels including Univison, Unimas, Galavision, Univision Deportes, beIN Sports, TV Azteca, and Wapa America.

Vidgo is also offering several specials including buy one month get one month free, $10 off for the first three months, or $99 for a full year of service. (Typically, $240 if paid monthly.)
