Showtime standalone service is now available across the United States. There are a wide range of ways to get Showtime on many different devices but one of these options stands out among the rest.
Hulu offers Showtime now as an add-on to their premium Hulu paid service. For just an extra $8.99 per month, you can add all of Showtime’s content to your Hulu subscription compared to the $10.99 per month from Showtime’s standard subscription plan.
You may ask yourself, why pay for Hulu to get Showtime? Well, other than the over 100 networks like Fox, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTC, NBC, and ABC that have their content on Hulu, you can get Hulu free! http://www.hulu.com/tv/networks
Bing Search offers free Hulu subscriptions just by searching with Bing. (It is surprisingly easy to rack up the points needed for a free month of Hulu.) So, with the free month of Hulu, Showtime will cost only $8.99 per month, making it the cheapest way to get Showtime. (Note we have received word that seems to be no blocking free subscriptions refusing Showtime. We have reached out to Hulu for comment I will update the story when we know more.)
There is one catch. Showtime does not run a live stream 24/7 on Hulu. Showtime does say live events like boxing will be streamed live on Hulu, but recorded programing like “Masters of Sex” is added to the service at the same time it starts live on their channel. So, instead of having to be in front of your TV at 8 pm, you can start the show any time after 8 pm. For a network that only rarely airs live events, this seems to be the best way to access Showtime content.
Hulu also makes Showtime content available on many more devices than are currently available with the Showtime Anytime app. If you own a FireTV, Hulu is currently your only way to get Showtime through an official Fire TV app. (Note at the time of this writing the fire TV Showtime app only works with cable Loggins.)
So, with the cheaper cost and more device options, we suggest you check out Hulu as a great way to get Showtime. Along with Showtime’s content, you will get a ton of content from a ton of networks.
