The free streaming service Xumo has grown to 24 million monthly active users, showing 2.5 times growth since January. Total hours streamed have also doubled during that period of time.

The Comcast-owned service is now proving itself to be strong competition for other leading free services. Fox-owned Tubi reported 33 million active users in August, a 65% increase year over year. ViacomCBS reported 26.5 million monthly active users in August for its free service Pluto TV, a 61% increase year over year.

Xumo CEO Colin Petrie-Norris notes that while coronavirus was a driving factor in the service’s growth, new content and a focus on building its list of distribution partners also helped Xumo to become a leading free streaming service this year.

“We have really resonated with cord cutters,” Petrie-Norris told Variety. “We see a number of people who are using us as their primary TV service, for news, kids shows and entertainment. We’re easy to get to. We don’t even require registration.”

Xumo has over 200 channels spanning 12 genres including news, sports, family, and entertainment.

You can find XUMO on your Hisense, Magnavox, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp and VIZIO smart TVs or get XUMO for Roku, Amazon Fire TV, iOS, and Android.
