Sunday’s premiere of 1883 on Paramount+ set a new record as the streaming service’s most-watched Original series ever. The Yellowstone prequel had 6.4 million viewers across the night (premieres, simulcast + encores) with 5.5 million viewers for the premiere + simulcast. That’s up more than double over the previous record. Additional third party reporting still to come.

Not only was it a big hit for Paramount+, the show was cable’s biggest new series premiere since 2015 with 4.9 million total viewers during its special event on Paramount Network following Yellowstone.

“The results of 1883’s debut are truly phenomenal,” said Tanya Giles, Chief Programming Officer, ViacomCBS Streaming. “The day 1 streaming numbers coupled with the results of the linear sampling effort, and social response from our audience show the tremendous promise for this series. We look forward to continuing on this epic journey with our subscribers.”

You can stream 1883 on Paramount+, but NBCUniversal actually owns streaming rights to Yellowstone. Catch it on Peacock starting at $4.99 a month, or on Philo and fuboTV, both of which offer a free trial.
