Ever wish there was less clutter on your YouTube app? Now Google has started to roll out a stripped down version of YouTube on Android TV. This version was first reported on by Android Police and seems to be rolling out to Android TV users. It now removes much of the clutter you would see when you play a video on YouTube. If it is successful look for it to go live on other platforms soon.

The new app cuts down on the amount of clutter you see on screen as you play a video. Now you will find suggested videos gone as are most of the on-screen controls. Gone is the fast forward and rewind options as well as details like view count. (Don’t worry the remote still work to fast forward and rewind.)

From the looks of it YouTube is hoping to make the video you are watching the main focus. Gone is everything that used to pull you away from the video every time you paused. This change is likely to be welcomed by many creators now that YouTube puts a heavy focus on minutes watched.

YouTube has yet to make an announcement on the change, and it is slowly rolling out so you may still have the old app. Google may still be in the testing stages of this new app.
