Google is testing a new subscription plan that allows users to watch videos without ads, without paying for additional YouTube Premium features. YouTube Premium Lite is being tested in Europe with a price of €6.99/month. The new tier does not include background playback or offline downloads. YouTube Premium with all the bells and whistles costs €11.99 a month.

The lower priced subscription plan was first found by a user on ResetEra and confirmed by YouTube. A YouTube Premium Lite page is now up with limited information.

YouTube confirmed the testing in a statement to The Verge, saying “In Nordics and Benelux (except for Iceland), we’re testing a new offering to give users even more choice: Premium Lite costs €6.99/month (or local equivalent per month) and it includes ad-free videos on YouTube.”

According to The Verge, Premium Lite is available on the web, iOS, Android, smart TVs, and games consoles, and with the YouTube Kids app. The new tier is being tested in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
