In April 2019, Google and Amazon announced a deal to bring YouTube, YouTube TV, and YouTube Kids to the Fire TV. At the time, Amazon and Google said all three would be on the Fire TV by the end of 2019.
Sadly, it is now February 2020 and YouTube Kids has not hit the Fire TV yet. It is starting to look like COPPA may be one of the reasons behind this. COPPA is meant to protect children online and, in late 2019, Google was hit with a heavy fine for targeting ads to kids on YouTube. Now it appears that COPPA may also be the reason that YouTube Kids has not come to Amazon’s Fire TV. It seems that Google and Amazon have held off launching the new apps as both companies work to ensure compliance with the COPPA requirements when it comes to ads targeting children.
There is no date set for YouTube Kids to come to Amazon’s Fire TV streaming player. Cord Cutters News can confirm that in 2020 YouTube Kids will be available on Amazon’s Fire TV. As we learn more, we will post updates, but hopefully this helps answer your questions about YouTube Kids on the Fire TV.
