YouTube is Rolling Out a New Look, New Apps, & a New Logo

YouTube is an amazing cord cutting tool and now they have announced several new features.

Here is everything new from YouTube today:

The new design moves the navigation tabs to the bottom of the new YouTube app. YouTube has also added new Library and Account tabs that give you easy access to what you want.

You can now double tap on the left or right side of a video to fast forward or rewind 10 seconds.

Now you can speed up and slow down the playback of a video not only on desktop, but starting today on the mobile app.

ASoon, the YouTube player will change shape to match the video format you’re watching. No longer will vertical videos look scrunched up. This will give you the best viewing experience automatically.

Browse and discover while you watch: We recently added a feature that lets you view a row of suggested videos while you’re watching in full screen. We’re also working on transforming the area below the player so you can browse videos in totally new ways.

YouTube also rolled out a new user experience on the desktop. Including a new Dark Theme, which turns the background dark while you watch for a more cinematic look.

Here is a quick video showing all the new features:

It’d be nice if they rolled out a new Apple TV app too…instead of the archaic one that hasn’t been updated in 2 years.

I thought that has to do with Apple?

Not on the Apple TV 4 (and the new 5).

Correct. Since the Apple TV 4 came out with the App Store, third-party apps are completely up to that developer, not Apple, to produce and update.

      Or Roku or Fire TV.

Youtube doesn’t have official Fire TV app. The app found in Fire TV’s are not made by Google, that’s why it says “Youtube.com” in the banner and don’t use official logo or coloring.

It looks like an MS-DOS Roku app from the 90s.

I’ve had this new design for a couple months now. I’m guessing I was one of their early users and it’s just rolling out to everyone now?

No themes on the phone? Why?

Notice no pesky user comments on the new version? Just back to a video hosting site. Nice.
