Last night YouTube TV started to quietly add Nexstar owned locals to their live TV streaming service. As best we can tell right now YouTube TV is just adding Nexstar NBC locals. We have reports of Nexstar locals going live in Little Rock, Columbus, Wilkes-Barre-Scranton, and more.
In total Nexstar owns over 30 NBC affiliates and a long list of ABC, CBS, and FOX affiliates. As of right now, we are only hearing about Nexstar NBC affiliates being added. Especially if you found a non-NBC Nexstar affiliate added to YouTube TV today or later this week, please let us know.
These new Nexstar locals will help not only expand the number of locals YouTube TV currently has but also help YouTube TV continue to expand into new markets. Well, YouTube TV has not officially stated this it looks like they want at least three live locals before they will bring their live TV streaming service into a market.
Back in April was the last time YouTube TV expanded into new markets with the addition of Wichita-Hutchinson, KS; Champaign-Springfield-Decatur, IL; Wilkes-Barre-Scranton-Hazleton, PA; Burlington, VT-Plattsburgh, NY; Columbia SC. Hopefully, the addition of Nexstar locals means YouTube TV is getting ready to roll out in even more markets.
