Having trouble with YouTube TV? You are not alone as it looks like YouTube TV is down. You can access the menu when you try to stream a channel or video on YouTube users get an error message or just a blank screen.
Update: We are now getting reports that YouTube TV is back online for some but not others. If YouTube TV is not working for you try restarting the YouTube TV app.
Update #2: Google sent Cord Cutters News the following statement about this outage: “We are experiencing high levels of network congestion in the eastern USA, affecting multiple services in Google Cloud, G Suite and YouTube. Users may see slow performance or intermittent errors. We believe we have identified the root cause of the congestion and expect to return to normal service shortly.” — Google Spokesperson
Update #3 Google reports that everything is now back to normal and will investigate what needs to happen to prevent this from happening again. “The network congestion issue in eastern USA affecting Google Cloud, G Suite and YouTube has been resolved for all affected users as of 4:00pm US/Pacific. We will conduct a post mortem and make appropriate improvements to our systems to prevent this from happening again. We sincerely apologize to those that were impacted by today’s issues. Customers can always find the most recent updates on our systems on our status dashboard.” –Google Spokesperson
Now not all YouTube users are experiencing the issue but reports are starting to flood in about the outage both from our readers and on Reddit. Other Google services are also down but some like YouTube seems to still be working at this time.
Cord Cutters News is reaching out to Google for comment and will update this story as we learn more. This is the first major YouTube TV outage in some time. Recently YouTube TV has had a record for being very reliable.
