Cable TV

Cable TVDIRECTV NOW hit the market this week and right off the bat many cord cutters started to talk about how it sounds and feels a lot like cable.

There definitely is a lot of truth to that as many of the packages people want are in the $50 to $60 a month range. Add in the need to have a large bundle and a growing list of limitations and hiccups leaves people to think DIRECTV NOW sounds a lot more like cable than PlayStation Vue or Sling TV.

So that raises the question is DIRECTV NOW bad for cord cutting? Is the fact that it is maybe the most cable TV-like service to come to cord cutters a negative for the cord cutting movement?

Honestly no, this is not a negative for cord cutters. Cord cutting at its core is about flexibility and control of your content. DIRECTV NOW meets one of the most important tenets of being a cord cutting service and that is the ability to use the service with no long-term contract. Want to try it for a month and cancel? You can do that with DIRECTV NOW.

Not only do you have the freedom and flexibility that cable TV could never give, DIRECTV NOW is also free of many of the hidden fees and taxes others have.

DIRECTV Now may not be the right fit for you. There is a lot of truth that you can probably get a much better bang for your buck by looking at other services; however, if DIRECTV NOW meets what someone wants and is inside the budget they want to spend then great for them.

If you are like me you may want to subscribe to a service such as DIRECTV NOW for part of the year. So even if the price by the month is high, if you only pay for it for a few months a year it is still a huge savings over cable

Not every cord cutting service will be a good fit for everyone. Just remember what is a good fit for you may not be a good fit for others.
